Can I bury a dead animal on my property?
No, animals cannot be buried on private property. Deceased animals must be disposed of in an appropriate fashion. Owners can call a private company to discuss cremations services or they can call Vancouver Animal Control at 3-1-1 to discuss options for cremation.
My family pet died. Will the City come and pick it up?
Animal Control does have a service to pick up deceased family pets and perform either a general cremation or private cremation. There are costs associated with this service, please call Animal Control at 3-1-1 or outside Vancouver at 604.873.7000 to inquire about costs and timing.
Can I put dead animals out for regular garbage collection?
No, deceased pets cannot be placed out for regular garbage collection. The Solid Waste By-law 8147 prohibits putting deceased animals in garbage containers.
