Dealing with Deceased Pets & Other Animals
Your own pets
Vancouver Animal Control offers both general and private cremations for deceased pets. Animal Control will pick up the pet for a fee, or you may bring it in to our facility. Please call 604.871.6888 for details and see the schedule for fees.
For health reasons, it is not permissible to bury animals, even on your own property.
Other animals
If you find a dead animal that has no known owner (anything but skunks), please phone our office and we will pick it up, ensure proper disposal and attempt to notify the owners.
We keep a record of all deceased animals. Our records include a description, and any other identification that would enable us to inform the owner of the animal’s demise. It’s important to ensure that identification such as tattoo and microchip information (ask your veterinarian for details) is up to date, and that dogs are have updated licences.
Cremation Fees
Please contact the Vancouver Animal Shelter for a fee schedule (604.871.6888).
