Property Use Inspections Division is committed to promote and maintain a safe, healthy and harmonious environment for the citizens of Vancouver.
Role of the Noise Control Branch, Property Use Inspections Division
The Noise Control Branch is part of the Property Use Inspections Division in Licenses & Inspections, Community Services. There are 2 Property Use Inspectors (Noise) 
(82kb) and an administrative assistant dedicated to administer the Noise Control By-law No. 6555.
The role of the Noise Control Branch is multi-faceted; working with our various partners to pursue compliance with the Noise Control Bylaw related to privately owned properties. Noise issues are categorized as follows: Construction, General, Food Primary, Liquor Primary, Mechanical Equipment and Waste Haulers.
Some of our main partners are Engineering, Police, License Office, Building Inspections and Liquor Control Branch 
.
Key Functions of the Noise Control Branch
Our two (2) dedicated Property Use Inspectors (Noise) respond to the majority of the noise complaints in the city EXCEPT for these noise related issues. They are also responsible for reviewing Noise Exception applications and play an integral role in the meetings for Special Events.
Our main functions are:
- Investigate and inspect public complaints
- Respond to public inquiries
- Pursue compliance
- Educate the public on regulations and by-laws
- Mediate neighborhood concerns
- Review Noise Exemption applications
For any noise related issues related to construction noise outside allowed hours, loud music and/or boisterous behaviour from businesses or private homes that arise outside of City of Vancouver working hours, please contact the Vancouver Police Non-Emergency Line at 604.717.3321.
