Noise Control
General
As Vancouver’s population grow and our city continually evolves to be an increasingly exciting and vibrant city to live in, citizens of Vancouver are exposed to higher level of urban noise caused by higher volumes of vehicular and people traffic as well as an increase in the number of noisy machines we use in both our work and recreation.
Some of the common noise complaints received under the general category are loud parties, loud radio music, noise from pressure washer, piano playing, noisy deliveries, lawn mower and leaf blower. For further information on the use of leaf blowers, view the leaf blower info sheet
(102kb) and the map below.
While the City combats urban noise through land use planning, bylaw enforcement, traffic management and policing, there are limitations to what local government can do. However, Property Use Inspections Division is committed to strive for an objective goal of safe and healthy harmony among people of Vancouver.
Property Use Inspections Division investigates and seeks compliance for the majority of noise concerns EXCEPT for these noise-related issues.
For any noise related issue that arises outside of City of Vancouver working hours, please contact the Vancouver Police Non-Emergency Line at 604.717.3321. AND ALSO fill out an on-line complaint form for the city inspectors to follow-up on.
