How to File an Electrical Complaint

Policy

Electrical Inspections Division has a standard policy for the investigation of complaints. These policy guidelines are:

  • Complaints must be validated by the name and phone# and/or address of the complainant. Anonymous complaints will be taken only in the following circumstances: Unsafe Conditions, Work Without Permit, Graffiti.
  • The City reviews the nature and legitimacy of the complaints received based on the City bylaws and within City jurisdiction.

Note: Confidentiality of complaints is protected under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.

File a Complaint

There are 2 ways to file an electrical-related complaint with all the required detailed information provided:

  1. Call 3-1-1 (within Vancouver) or 604.873.7000 (outside Vancouver); or
  2. Fill out our on-line complaint form.
