City of Vancouver Statistics (2006 Census Data)

Local Area Statistics

Statistics Canada conduct a census every five years, and since the early 1970s the City of Vancouver have obtained data for each of 22 'Local Areas' or neighbourhoods. These neighbourhoods have been the geographical basis for area planning, and data are available for every census from 1971 to 2006. We anticipate updating some data from the 2011 Census which we expect to receive in 2013. The decision to replace the more detailed census with a voluntary Household Survey may not allow us to update all the data obtained from earlier periods. Statistics Canada note that data quality is not expected to be as good as the mandatory long-form census.
