2) Public Art for King Edward Village Lynne Werker noted the following with respect to public art at this location.
3) Kingcrest Park (update via email) Liz Jang, volunteer coordinator of the Kingcrest Park improvement proposal, said Michel Desrochers, Planner with the Park Board, has been assigned to work on the Kingcrest Park plan with Liz and other volunteers. Michel told Liz that there are three allotments of money for park improvements: 1) playground; 2) playing field; and 3) general improvements. Liz said she will keep the KCC Committee informed with monthly progress updates. 4) Windsor Way Greenway Proposal Sandy James, Planner with City Plans, contacted Doug Smith, Engineer with Greenways, and asked Doug to consider Windsor Street for a neighbourhood greenway. As a follow-up, Peter Wohlwend contacted Doug Smith for ideas/suggestions on what the community could do to help. Doug told Peter that the City is committed to several projects already, but would consider Sandy's and the group's request for a neighbourhood greenway along Windsor. Doug asked Peter to submit a proposal in writing. If this project were to go ahead, it needs a community champion. Peter is committed to too many projects already and can't take this on. The group decided to approach Uli when he returns from vacation. 5) Community Newspaper Donna Chang asked the group if they would be interested in supporting a community newspaper for KCC. Barb offered to publish news items in the community policing newsletter, but the group preferred to have a community-based newspaper, sponsored by a variety of groups and agencies, including Barb's. Donna said she would invite Paul Reid, editor of the Renfrew Collingwood News to the next KCC CityPlan Committee meeting. 6) The Annual General Meeting The AGM will be held on Thursday, May 6, 2004 at Trout Lake Community Centre (if the Centre is available, if not, the event will be held at Kensington Community Centre). The format for the event will be similar to last year's,.. reports from local groups and agencies with an emphasis on recruitment (to the KCC Committee, sub groups, etc.). 7) Rumours of a New Coastal Health Authority Facility in KCC Barb said she heard rumours that Coastal Health is looking for a new location in the Broadway & Commercial area. Barb is concerned that the area already has a concentration of facilities and the community should carefully consider the addition of one more. Margaret noted that the facilities run by Coastal Health Authority offer a variety of programs and services for children and families. Next Meeting: Thursday, March 4, 2004 |
