Kensington-Cedar Cottage CityPlan Committee

Meeting Notes

Kensington-Cedar Cottage Community Wide Meeting
Thursday, October 7, 2004
7:00 - 9:00 p.m.
Trout Lake Community Centre

In Attendance: John Buckberrough (Chairperson), Peter Wohlwend, Gary Shilling, Donna Chang, Chris White (MOSAIC Developments), Stuart Howard (MOSAIC Developments), June Christy (Planning Department), and Andrea Tang (Planning Department)

Mosaic Homes

  • Stuart reported that once the public hearing (October 21, 2004, 7:00 pm ) is complete, they will be applying for a development permit and undergoing technical and environmental reviews of the site. They hope that the permit will be issued by January 2005 and that construction could commence by summer 2005.

ACTION: John will send a letter of support for the project to Council on behalf of the committee.

Clark-Knight Whole Route Study

  • June reported the results of the June 2004 Clark-Knight survey and invited the committee to write a letter to the City on behalf of the committee to emphasize their key concerns.

ACTION: Peter and John will consider writing a letter to Council, highlighting key concerns in regards to Knight St.

Kingcrest Park

  • Andrea reported on behalf of Liz Jang on Kingcrest Park .
  • Committee is in support of the current progress of work on the park.

KCC Newspaper  

  • Gary reported that he is currently in the process of receiving write-ups.

ACTION: Andrea will print fifty 8.5" x 11" colour posters for publicizing the KCC Newspaper and will send them to Gary.

Litter Bins  

  • Andrea reported on the City's progress in putting more litter bins in commercial corridors. John suggested the City should consider making multilingual "Do not litter" signs.

ACTION: Andrea will send copies of the "Partners for Clean Neighbourhoods" brochure to John or bring them to the next meeting. John will consider writing to Kevin Van Vliet, engineer at the City of Vancouver, regarding his suggestion of multilingual signs.

Social Planning Dept. and Future Meetings

  • Donna suggested that the committee may consider inviting a social planner to a meeting in the future (possibly Baldwin Wong).

ACTION: Andrea will pass on this suggestion to Cathy Buckham.
