Peter Stary, a city traffic engineer spoke about traffic Calming around
Selkirk and Dickens schools. The key points were:
- Pedestrian activated crossing will be added at Glen and Kingsway
this fall (hopefully by 1 Sept.)
- The use of speed "humps" is being reviewed by council (we
missed the pilot program)
- Some new funding has been allotted for approx. 8 corner bulges for
school crossings
2. Garbage Cans
- Susan showed a map of existing can locations. The major problem with
the existing cans is that they are filled with household garbage. If
you see a problem house or business please contact Susan and the city
will look into it.
3. Former Safeway site at Kingsway & Knight
- The development permit has expired because conditions were not met
by the developer within the time allowed. The site is for sale for $9.5
million.

- Crime prevention office space has been provided for the Fraser Street
Crime Prevention Office (currently at Fraser and 51st)
