Mount Pleasant Community Planning Program - Social Issues

Social Coordinating Group (SCG): March 2008 to December 2009

The SCG program has now completed its requirements and role with the City as of December 18, 2009. The SCG started in March, 2008, and since then has identified and implemented over a dozen actions and projects to address pressing social issues including homelessness and support for the vulnerable. Staff has begun to conduct an evaluation of the pilot program based on the SCG’s performance and on Council’s Terms of Reference for the Mount Pleasant Community Action Agenda (

A new Community-Based SCG in 2010

As of January, 2010, the SCG is continuing to build its community capacity without City support, as a newly independent community-based committee of Mount Pleasant. The new SCG may be contacted at babiuk@gmail.com.
