Granville Loops

Background

In 2002, Council approved the Downtown Transportation Plan which is a comprehensive plan for ensuring that downtown Vancouver remains a thriving commercial centre. The Plan aims to create an easy and pleasant downtown area to get to and around in, whether you're walking, biking, taking transit, or driving. Specifically, the Plan suggested “spot improvements” for various areas located within the downtown area. Spot improvements address site specific issues and were identified by input from the public, a safety study, and staff analysis. Granville Street Loops were identified as a spot improvement and the redesign responds to the need for an improved street grid and increased development potential for land in the Granville Loops area.
