Canadian Memorial United Church
Community Centre

The Canadian Memorial United Church Community Centre was designed by
McCarter Nairne and Chadney Associate Architects in 1922 and is listed
as a Category "B" building on the Vancouver Heritage Register.
It has operated as an ancillary use to the adjacent Canadian Memorial
United Church, which is itself an "A" listed building on the
Register. The proposal involved subdividing the land into two parcels,
with the existing building being rehabilitated and converted into 19
residential units. The remainder of the site has been developed with
a new church hall, including offices and class room space. In order
to facilitate the preservation of the heritage building, the City entered
into a Heritage Revitalization Agreement
(HRA) with the property owner. The HRA addressed subdivision,
floor space and use relaxations and retention and restoration objectives
for the heritage building.
