Introduction

The West End, adjacent to Stanley Park and downtown beaches, is a liveable neighbourhood with a unique mix of land uses, housing types, transportation options, urban character and amenities. The city is growing and there is demand for new development in all neighbourhoods. New growth needs to happen with community needs in mind.

As requested by Council, two community meetings were organized by staff to discuss community needs, including affordable housing in the West End. Presentations were given by staff and four community groups on community needs and affordable housing followed by comments and questions from the floor. These meetings were held on Wednesday, May 12th and Thursday, May 13th. A community survey was also distributed and filled out and returned by those attending the meeting.

Those who were unable to attend a meeting gave their feedback through an online survey that was available on the Meeting Materials, Survey and Report on Findings page. The online survey is now closed.

A summary of input received from residents at the meetings and through the online survey will be relayed to Council and posted to the City’s website.

Specific rezoning proposals in the West End follow a different process. For more information about how to provide input to rezonings at the following addresses, please visit:
