West End Community Plan
Path to a Community Plan
Spring 2012 marks the beginning of a community planning process for the West End. The community has grown and changed since the last plans were developed in 1986 and ’87 and it’s time to think about the future growth and evolution of the community. The new community plan will help address broader city and regional objectives while recognizing the specific community values that make the West End unique.
The West End Community Plan will provide long-range and shorter-term direction on a variety of topics, including land use, urban design, housing, transportation, parks and public spaces, heritage features and community facilities.
The planning process will take place over 18 to 21 months beginning with a focus on current community values, and identifying local assets and opportunities for positive change.
- Phase 1: Launch, Spring-Summer 2012
- Phase 2: Policy Options, Fall 2012-Spring 2013
- Phase 3: Draft Plan, Summer-Fall 2013
- Phase 4: Plan Approval, Fall-Winter 2013
