Hastings Legacy Fund

The Hastings Legacy Fund is a new grant program introduced in 2009. It was established as part of the rezoning conditions for Hastings Park.

The primary intent of the Community Grants Program is to address social issues in the neighbourhoods in the vicinity of the Hastings Racecourse (Hastings-Sunrise Neighbourhood only).

The goals of the HLF grants are to:

a) Build the capacity of the Hastings-Sunrise neighbourhood to address and respond to issues affecting it.

b) Build strong, safe, inclusive communities within Hastings-Sunrise based on the principles of community capacity building, public safety, civic engagement and supporting green initiatives at the neighbourhood level.

c) Create local solutions to local problems and support new opportunities that bring about positive social change.

A complete set of Eligibility Criteria, along with the HLF Application Form are available for download at the bottom of this page. The deadline for applications is 4:30 pm, Friday, November 19, 2010.

Project/program proposals will be reviewed by a staff team from Social Policy and Hastings Park/PNE Planning. Following the review process, recommendations will be made by staff. All initiatives will require Council approval. Applicants will be notified of the staff recommendations together with notice of the City Council meeting date at which the grants will be considered. Funds will be allocated through grant allocations to non-profit organizations according to City policy and standards.
