A City of Gardens

Vancouver has several dozen community gardens located throughout the city - and more are being created each year. This page contains a listing of all the current gardens, plot numbers, and contact information that you can use to get in touch with the garden administrators.

We rely on the community to notify us of changes to this list - so if there are any updates to be made, please send us an email at foodpolicy@vancouver.ca.

Joining an Existing Community Garden

The City of Vancouver works with communities to set up new gardens. If you want to join an already existing community garden, please contact the person whose name is associated with the garden. Neither the City nor Park Board keep the waitlists nor determine how gardens maintain their memberships.

Currently, the demand for community garden plots in Vancouver is far in excess of the number of plots that are available. Many gardens do have wait-lists, so if there is no space available in the garden you want to join, ask the garden contact to place your name on the list so that you can be notified when a plot becomes available. Alternately, you may also want to consider starting your own garden.

Finally, even if you don’t want to garden yourself, consider visiting the gardens just to have a look. There are some extraordinarily talented gardeners busy in these spaces, and their handiwork - particularly in midsummer and early fall - can be beautiful to behold. To help you chart a course around these garden spaces the City has produced a series of walking tour guides and related brochures. You can download them here.

Note: We rely on input from gardeners to keep this list up to date - so if you spot any errors or omissions, please send us an email and let us know.
