Developing a Green Building Strategy

Background

On July 8th, 2004 City Council directed staff to develop a Green Building Strategy for the city and to report back by summer 2005. At that time City Council mandated:

LEED Gold with a 30% improvement in energy performance for all civic buildings;
LEED Silver for all buildings in Southeast False Creek (SEFC); and
On March 1, 2005 Council mandated LEED Gold for the Olympic Athlete’s Village in SEFC, with a mandate to ensure that at least one project is built to a LEED Platinum standard.
