Community gathering

  • Following the devastating mass casualty incident at the Lapu Lapu Day event, the City received an outpouring of requests to connect to civic leaders during this time of shock and grief. In collaboration with Filipino BC and other Filipino community organizers, the Mayor invited those seeking to connect with Mayor and Council, other civic leaders and community members to Kensington Community Centre on April 27, from 5 to 7 p.m. for a quiet, informal time to gather and connect.
  • There is great need for community to come together and share space during this time of unthinkable loss and grief, and City staff are in contact with Filipino community representatives to offer support for their ongoing response to this tragedy. Information for a vigil to follow.
