Lon LaClaire

General manager of Engineering Services

Lon LaClaire is the General Manager of Engineering Services at the City of Vancouver, a role that aligns with his passion for “city building.” Lon oversees the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of our public works infrastructure.

Engineering Services, our largest department, is responsible for a range of planning and regulatory functions, playing a central role in Vancouver's day-to-day operations. The department delivers a complex array of essential public services, including streets and transportation, water, sewers and drainage, solid waste management, and district energy.

Prior to becoming General Manager, Lon was a key leader working in the City’s Transportation Division for over 20 years, including 5 years as the Director of Transportation.

Lon holds an undergraduate degree from Concordia University in Montreal (1993) and a Masters in Transportation Engineering and Structures from the University of Calgary (1996).
