Deputy City Manager Armin AmroliaDeputy City Manager

Armin Amrolia joined the City in December 2021. She previously served BC Housing for 32 years. In her role as Associate Vice President Development Strategies, Armin had a lead role in the vision and delivery of 23,000 homes across the province for seniors, families, Indigenous communities, women fleeing violence, youth, and people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

As AVP, Armin grew the Development Strategies team that now delivers an average of 3,500 affordable homes annually. Armin has delivered projects that fill needs across the housing spectrum in more than 65 communities through partnerships with over 200 non-profit housing providers, housing cooperatives, Indigenous groups, and development partners.  She draws on her strong background in stakeholder and intergovernmental relations to liaise with municipalities, Health Authorities, and government agencies including CMHC.

Armin was instrumental in the creation of the HousingHub, a division at BC Housing that works in partnership with the private sector, local government, and non-profit societies to develop affordable housing for middle income households. Armin also created the Redevelopment department, which unlocks opportunities for increased density at large, provincially owned sites while replacing aging housing stock. Armin has deep experience with large, complex projects, including the transfer of BC Housing’s largest site, səmiq̓ʷəʔelə , formerly known as the Riverview Lands, into the portfolio.

She is the recipient of numerous awards, including being selected as the YWCA’s 2021 Woman of Distinction in the non-profit category, and as the 2021 Urban Land Institute BC Women’s Leadership Initiative Outstanding Leader.

Armin holds a degree in Political Science from Simon Fraser University.
