The Neighbourhood Emergency Preparedness Program (NEPP) was established to support our neighbours prepare for emergencies and disasters in the city. Volunteers are the core of what we do.

NEPP volunteers mobilize knowledge about hazards and safety within the community. A key component of being a NEPP volunteer is delivering workshops about earthquakes and other hazards, including how to: 

  • Prepare for emergencies with your family,children, and pets 
  • Minimize hazards in your home
  • Prepare for emergencies in an apartment  

Is this volunteer opportunity for you?

While experience teaching or facilitating seminars is helpful, it is not required. Training will be provided.

Minimum qualifications

All NEPP volunteers must meet these minimum requirements:

  • Be 19 years of age or older
  • Comfortable communicating (speaking and reading) in English
  • Successfully complete the NEPP training program

Commitment

All NEPP volunteers are asked to deliver at least six workshops a year.
