Hours for private waste collection

Because private waste collection trucks and their hydraulic lifts can be loud when they empty containers or dumpsters, the City restricts the times and days that garbage, food scraps, and recycling can be picked up depending on location.

When waste can be collected

Day Downtown area Outside downtown area
Monday to Friday 6am - midnight 7am - 8pm
Saturday 10am - midnight 10am - 8pm
Sunday 10am - midnight 10am - 8pm
Holidays 10am - midnight 10am - 8pm

When you can make construction-related noise

Day On private property On city streets, lanes, and boulevards
Monday to Friday 7:30am - 8pm 7am - 8pm
Saturday 10am - 8pm 7am - 8pm
Sunday No construction-related noise permitted 10am - 8pm
Holiday (day of) No construction-related noise permitted 10am - 8pm

 Outside of these hours, construction noise is only allowed with a noise bylaw exception permit.
