Mechanical equipment

Mechanical equipment includes such things as:

• Exhaust fans and vents
• Air conditioning units
• Heating systems and heat pumps

Equipment requirements

Since this equipment is often installed on walls and roofs, it must be placed in a location that will not cause excess noise for neighbours. As well, mechanical equipment needs to be regularly maintained to work efficiently and quietly. 

Maximum allowed noise

Depending on the location in the City – and the time of day or night – there are noise limits. An inspector will take a noise reading if you feel the noise is excessive.
