Submission requirements for a strata lot subdivision application

Before filing a strata plan amendment

To discuss whether development and building permit applications are first required to increase the number of units or to change the approved use, contact the Development and Building Services Centre.

You need to have the required permits before submitting a strata plan amendment.

What to include in your application

An application to amend a strata plan must include:

  1. A letter of application, which clearly states:
    • Property address and legal description
    • Intended use of each proposed strata lot
    • Relevant development or building permit numbers,
    • Name, address, telephone, and fax numbers of the person making the application
  2. A letter of authorization from the property owner, if you apply on their behalf
  3. A special resolution of the strata corporation supporting the application to subdivide, unless exempted pursuant to Section 260 of the Strata Property Act
  4. A current title search of the strata lot(s) involved in the proposal, from the Land Title Office in New Westminster. You may be asked to provide copies of any charges on title, or submit a charge summary prepared by a lawyer, if they are extensive
  5. A copy of the current strata plan
  6. Either a sketch plan or a survey plan which clearly shows how you intend to subdivide the strata lot
  7. A non-refundable fee of $7,362, which includes GST on the Special Inspection portion of fee. Cheques should be made out to the "City of Vancouver".

Deliver the application to the Development and Building Services Centre, Ground Floor (515 West 10th Avenue), to the attention of the Subdivision Group, or mail it to:
