The cultural amenity space is located on the ground floor of a larger mixed-use development at 522 Malkin Street. The space will be leased to a non-profit arts operator.
The intended use and goals for the space are to:
- Serve as a dedicated space for local non-profit visual arts production
- Provide affordable and accessible cultural space on a cost-recovery basis that balances sustainability and affordability
- Support and amplify the artistic practices and voices of artists from Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations, Indigenous communities, and equity-deserving communities
Key features
- Approximately 6,500 square feet of space at ground floor level
- Facilities for occasional event use
- Artist studios accommodating a range of light industrial visual arts including:
- Fired ceramics
- Wood-working including carving
- Sculpture
- Metal work
- Silk screening
- Print making
- Artistic practices using epoxy, fibreglass, or other toxic or hazardous materials
Information icon Artist studio spaces are not suitable for ongoing theatre, dance, music, or other performing arts uses.
The space will be finished and equipped (excluding furniture and other specialized equipment).
