Hanging Baskets for a Neighbourhood

In the spring of 2009, a burst of color was added above the streets along East Hastings. Fifty-four hanging flower baskets were displayed between Gore Street and Clark Drive.

Providing a beautiful backdrop for the vibrant Strathcona business area, the flower baskets were the result of a three-year partnership between the Great Beginnings Program and the Strathcona Business Improvement Association (BIA).

Local Talent

Flower baskets were prepared by and purchased from Landscaping with Heart, a local social enterprise. 

These baskets were hung from approximately April until September each year.  From October to March, winter baskets or wreaths were displayed.

After the initial installation, ownership of the baskets was turned over to Strathcona BIA who maintained and replenished them seasonally.
