Equity, diversity, and inclusion

We are working hard to ensure our activities support fairness, equity, and access for all.

We are committed to advancing reconciliation, equity, and anti-racism for all people in Vancouver. We're taking a number of actions to fulfil these commitments.

We are always striving for improvement and to work towards a fairer, safer, more inclusive city. Learn more about our commitment to upholding the rights and dignity of all people, addressing historic, current systemic injustice, and reducing harm with our Equity Framework (541 KB).

Here are just some of the areas we are working on to achieve this.

Six Equity commitments

Pay Transparency Report

On May 11, 2023, the Government of British Columbia passed the Pay Transparency Act in an effort to help close the gender pay gap in BC. Under the legislation, the City of Vancouver and other provincially regulated employers of a certain size are required to publish annual pay transparency reports by November 1 each year.

The City of Vancouver is committed to advancing Reconciliation, equity, and anti-racism for all people in Vancouver. The City’s Equity Framework (4 MB), along with a number of other strategies and actions, focus on upholding the rights and dignity of all people, addressing historic and current systemic injustices, and reducing harm.

The City’s ongoing efforts to measure, report on, and take action to improve pay equity across all levels of the organization are reflected in past initiatives like the Women’s Equity Strategy and the publication of Workforce Pay Rates and Sex data sets.
