January 20 2026 - Today, Vancouver City Council approved more than $5.6 million in cultural grants to support artists and cultural organizations.

January 14 2026 - At a public hearing last night, Council approved zoning and building updates to implement Villages in the Rupert and Renfrew Station Area Plan.

About Councillor Meiszner

Biography

Councillor Peter Meiszner is committed to building a safe, vibrant, and equitable city—full of opportunity—where people from all walks of life can thrive and succeed.

A resident of Vancouver since 2002, Peter has lived across several neighbourhoods including, East Vancouver, Gastown, Yaletown, and the West End, and is a passionate advocate for our city and the urban environment. He is an architecture buff, and has previously served as the vice-chair of the Gastown Historic Area Planning Committee, as well as reporting on urban planning, housing, and transit.

He is passionate about tackling the housing and affordability crisis through innovative solutions, as well as cutting permit wait times and red tape to deliver the housing Vancouverites need including, social and supportive, rental, and attainable ownership.

Peter currently serves on the boards of the Vancouver Public Library, Vancouver Civic Theatres, EasyPark, as well as Metro Vancouver, as a member of the Housing Committee, and Electoral Area A Committee. He also acts as the Mayor's alternate on the Metro Vancouver Board.

He is a strong advocate for downtown residents and businesses, focused on improving our neighbourhoods, ensuring public safety, caring for our most vulnerable, and creating vibrant public spaces that animate our city.

His professional background is in journalism and media relations, and he has worked in several newsrooms across the city, reporting on civic affairs.

Peter lives in Yaletown and can often be found on foot or on a bike across downtown Vancouver.
