Vancouver Economic Commission Board of Directors

The Vancouver Economic Commission (VEC) is a non-profit agency of the City of Vancouver that works to strengthen the city's economic future by:

  • Helping retain and expand existing businesses
  • Attracting new business and investment by working with other organizations
  • Researching the business environment
  • Making policy recommendations to City Council

The Board of Directors helps run the commission.

Meeting frequency

The board meets quarterly. Meetings are closed to the public.

Time commitment

In addition to regular board meetings, members are expected to participate in at least one of three standing committees, and an additional ad-hoc committee or task group.


Voting members are appointed by City Council.

The commission has a maximum of five voting members, and two members of the Vancouver City Council may be appointed as non-voting members. Voting members are appointed by City Council for 3-year terms.

Members may be reappointed, and may serve an unlimited number of terms.


Members must have experience or skills that will contribute directly to the economic development goals set by the commission.
