What to submit

If you declared your property as:

  Principal residence - permitted occupant

  For owners who identify a permitted occupant, we seek confirmation from the occupant to verify the owner’s property status declaration.

  Note  While the occupant will not face any penalties if they do not provide supporting information, their assistance is needed to validate the accuracy of the declaration and to ensure taxes are levied appropriately for the owner of the property.

  What you need to do

  Note  The third-party consent form must accompany the evidence documents. If this form is not received, we will delete your information upon receipt and all documents will need to be resubmitted.

  If the property owner is submitting the documents:  

  • Complete Third-party Consent Form A PDF file (167 KB)
  • The property owner needs to ensure that the permitted occupant(s) complete the third-party consent form prior to providing any evidence belonging to the permitted occupant(s) to the property owner

  If the permitted occupant(s) is submitting the documents directly without providing documents to the owner: 

  • Complete Third-party Consent Form B PDF file (181 KB)

  Tenanted

  For owners who identify that their properties are tenanted, we may seek confirmation from the tenant to verify the owner’s property status declaration.

  Note  While tenants will not face any penalties if they do not provide supporting information, their assistance may be needed to validate the accuracy of declarations and to ensure taxes are levied appropriately against the owner of the property.

  What you need to do

  Note  The third-party consent form must accompany the evidence documents. If this form is not received, we will delete your information upon receipt and all documents will need to be resubmitted.

  If the property owner is submitting the documents:  

  • Complete Third-party Consent Form A PDF file (195 KB)
  • The property owner needs to ensure that the tenant(s) complete the third-party consent form prior to providing any evidence belonging to the tenant(s) to the property owner

  If the tenant(s) is submitting the documents directly without providing documents to the owner: 

  • Complete Third-party Consent Form B PDF file (204 KB)

  Owner in care

  For owners who identify that their properties are exempt because an occupant or tenant was residing in a hospital, long term, or support care facility, we may seek confirmation from the occupant or tenant who was residing at the property prior to seeking care to verify the owner’s property status declaration. 

  Note  While occupants or tenants will not face any penalties if they do not provide supporting information, their assistance may be needed to validate the accuracy of declarations and to ensure taxes are levied appropriately against the owner of the property.

Where to submit documents

  Online

  • If you are a property owner submitting the third-party consent form and evidence, you can submit these documents online.
  • If you are a tenant or permitted occupant of the property, you will need to submit your documents in person at City Hall or by registered mail.

   There is an after-hours drop box available.
