  Colouring contest

  “Smoke alarms: Make them work for you!”

  Vancouver Fire Rescue Services (VFRS) is excited to host 2024’s colouring contest to promote Fire Prevention Week.

  Contest dates

  The contest begins October 6, 2024, and closes October 31, 2024, at 11:59pm.

  Who can participate

  Vancouver resident children ages 6 to 13, with 1 entry per child.

  Information icon The prize must be claimed at Firehall 10 Public Education located at 2992 Wesbrook Mall, Vancouver between the hours of 8am to 3pm, Monday to Friday.

  How to enter

  • Download and print the colouring page and entry ballot PDF file (668 KB).
  • Have your child colour the page and include their first and last name and age.
  • Parent or guardian should put their name and contact information on ballot as well.
  • Submit your entry either:
    • By email: Scan or a take a photo of the artwork and email it to VFRSfiresafety@vancouver.ca, titling the email "Colouring Contest Entry – (your child's name)"
    • By mail: Send to Firehall 10 Public Education, 2992 Wesbrook Mall, V6T 2B7, Vancouver, BC.

  Winner and prize

  The winner will be drawn at random. The winner will be contacted on November 4, 2024. The winner will have 3 days to respond and arrange a pickup date before the prize is surrendered and a redraw takes place. If the entry section is not filled out entirely, that entry will not be eligible to receive a prize. All entries become property of the VFRS and may be posted with only the winner’s artwork, first name and age on the VFRS social media.

  Install. Test. Replace.

  Install

  Install smoke alarms in every bedroom, outside each separate sleeping area (like a hallway), and on each level (including the basement) of the home.

  Test

  Test smoke alarms at least once a month by pushing the test button.

  Replace

  Replace all smoke alarms when they are 10 years old or stop responding when tested.
