Going to swimming pools during COVID-19

COVID-19 Restart: outdoor pools

We're re-opening most outdoor pools with safety measures. Read about what we're doing to help us all stay safe while swimming.

If you're feeling sick, particularly if you're experiencing flu-like symptoms, please stay home.

COVID-19 safety measures

To encourage physical distancing, we are:

  • Reducing the amount of people who can visit at one time
  • Creating timed swim sessions (45 minutes for lap swimming and 90 minutes for casual swimming)
  • Selling tickets online for swim sessions
    • Kitsilano sales start at 9:30am daily for the next day's swim sessions
    • Maple Grove, New Brighton, and Second Beach sales start at 9am daily for the next day's swim sessions
  • Setting up one-way travel around the pool deck perimeter
  • Providing a pod (a painted rectangle) for up to two people on the pool deck to rest and sunbathe (preschoolers ages 0 to 4 are exempt)
  • Clearing and cleaning the pool after every 90 minute session
