Kitsilano Pool upgrades are complete

Kitsilano Pool, North America’s longest saltwater pool, was renovated during winter 2018.

The upgrades include:

  • Removal and replacement of the pool basin membrane
  • Repairs to the pool deck
  • An addition of pumps to replenish sea water and for dewatering

Improvements to the concrete, new pool coating, and control joints mean less water will escape. Prior to the upgrades 430,000 gallons of potable water were used a month to top the pool.

Funding for the $3.3 million Kits Pool upgrade came from the Government of Canada’s Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program and City of Vancouver.
