Fees and billing
The fee for a special reading is $120. It will be added to your final utility bill that you'll receive the week after the special reading.
For sold properties, we email the final bill to your lawyer or notary unless you request otherwise.
Request a special meter reading if there is a change to your property (such as selling the property to a new owner, or having new tenants).
What you need to know
- Special meter readings are completed on Fridays (or Thursday when Friday is a holiday) during department business hours.
- If you select a date outside of our scheduling policy, the reading will be booked for the next available Friday.
- You are not required to be present for the reading.
- Only submit 1 request per property. To avoid duplicate requests, check with others (lawyer, notary, real estate agent, and more) involved if a reading has already been requested.
Scheduling a reading
Make your booking request at least 5 business days before the date you would like the reading.
Rescheduling or cancelling a reading
Rescheduled or cancellation requests must be made 3 business days before the date of your booked meter reading. Requests received within 3 business days will not be approved, and charges may apply.
