Starting 2027: City green bin collection service change for multi-unit residential and commercial buildings

City green bin schedule changes to biweekly collection every January and February 2027
A small number of multi-unit residential and commercial buildings still receive weekly green bin collection service year-round. Starting in 2027, these buildings will receive collection every other week in January and February to bring the service to these properties in line with the majority (99%) of other City-serviced properties.
New green bin collection schedule
- January and February only: Collection every other week
- March through December: Collection every week

Green bin collection service options
Stay with City green bin service (Option 1)
Properties that continue with the City’s green bin collection service will automatically switch to a biweekly schedule every January and February starting in 2027.
Switch to another green bin service provider and opt out of City service (Option 2)
If you determine that your building is not suited for biweekly green bin collection in January and February, you will need to opt out of City green bin service and choose a new food scraps collection service provider.
