Resources to help building managers and residents improve their recycling, composting, and waste disposing in their buildings.

Get involved

  • Zero Waste Ambassador Program
Our volunteer-based initiative to improve waste reduction and diversion within multi-unit residential buildings. The ambassadors work with our staff, building managers, and strata council members to implement waste diversion initiatives in their building.

  • Reuse and recycling drop-off events
Along with our partners, we hosts monthly reuse and recycling drop-off events to make it convenient for residents to dispose of items that can be reused or recycled. Find a full list of accepted items and to see the next drop-off schedule.

  • Adopt a Block program
This volunteer-based program creates a cleaner and more vibrant Vancouver. We give you the equipment (picker, bags, gloves, and safety vest), and you clean up your block from litter in spare time.

  • Organize a Neighbourhood Cleanup Party
If you’d like to organize a 1 time clean-up of a neighbourhood area, park or a beach, the Neighbourhood Cleanup Party program will lend you all the supplies and even help arrange garbage pick up.

  • Share, reuse, repair
Extending the useful life of everyday products is a simple but essential aspect of a circular economy. If you have items in need of repair, sign up to bring them to our next Repair Café, and receive repair assistance from our volunteer fixers. Learn about the Repair Café schedule and more about our initiatives like Free Swap and Zero Waste Fairs.

  • Play the Waste Sorting Game
Test your recycling knowledge and learn what goes where in this fun and interactive game.
