Location and facilities

Currently under construction, the new Saa’ust Centre is at 425 Columbia Street. This new facility will replace the Saa'ust Centre that was temporarily located at 44 East Cordova.

The facility is part of an Aboriginal Land Trust (ALT) owned and operated mixed-use development. It will be situated on the 3rd floor of a holistic Indigenous-led healing centre.

Healing centre tenants

The primary tenant is intended to be the Vancouver Aboriginal Health Society who will operate all of the 2nd floor and part of the 3rd floor.

Additional healing centre subtenants will include other Indigenous community service providers.

The 4,000 square foot Saa’ust Centre space will be leased to an eligible Indigenous-led non-profit who will collaborate with other subtenants to provide culturally safe services for the benefit of Indigenous peoples.

“Saa ust” (pronounced saw-us-t) is a Musqueam word meaning “to lift someone's spirit." The development of a “Saa’ust Centre” is our key priority in response to the national inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG).
