Types of parking meter spaces

We have 2 types of parking meter spaces:

• Regular 
• Motorcycle (smaller than a regular parking meter space)

Parking discount in a motorcycle parking spaces

The parking rate for motorcycle meter spaces on a block is:

• 50% less than regular parking meter space on the same block
• Free for electric scooters, both registered and unregistered

Parking discount in regular parking spaces

When you use PayByPhone External website, opens in new tab to park your gas-powered motorcycle and scooter in a regular parking meter space, you get a:

• 50% discount on parking rates
• 75% discount for electric scooters with licence plates

Note Electric scooters without licence plates can't park in regular parking meter spaces.

You can share a parking space with other motorcycles or scooters if there's room. Make sure your bike fits within the painted lines of the space.

Two ways to pay for parking when you share a space

1. By PayByPhone External website, opens in new tab – only covers the parking of your bike
2.  At a parking meter or pay station – covers all the bikes in the parking space

When you can get a ticket

You can get a ticket if you're parked in a space with:

• No time left on the parking meter
• No current PayByPhone transaction

When parking your motorcycle or scooter, you must follow the same rules as any motorized vehicle. 

Stopping or parking:

• On a sidewalk is illegal under section 17.4 (c) of the by-law
• On a boulevard is illegal under section 17.4 (e) of the by-law
• Too close to a corner is illegal under sections 17.5 (b) and 17.5 (c) of the by-law
