Steps to submitting your route

  Step 1: Review general requirements

  • Quadricycles can only operate on pre-approved routes and are generally restricted to local streets and laneways, with some exceptions made for short crossings on major streets. 
  • Quadricycles are not permitted to use protected bike lanes due to their size. 
  • When crossing major streets, signalized intersections or pedestrian/bike signalized intersections are preferred over unsignalized intersections.

  Step 2: Review what you need to submit for route approval

  Quadricycle route approval submissions should include:

  • Company name, email, mailing address, and phone number
  • Anticipated frequency of tours on this route
  • Layout or drawing of the proposed route [review sample drawing route PDF file (291 KB) ] with:
    • North arrow
    • Street names
    • Direction of travel
    • Destination locations – business name and address
    • Parking – indicate whether the quadricycle will have private parking arranged or will rely on street parking
  • Routes are intended to show the streets that quadricycles will be travelling on. They may include more destinations than can be covered; for example:
    • A route may show six destinations, but a tour will only go to three destinations, depending on availability. The quadricycle is only allowed to travel on the streets indicated.

  Step 3: Submit route

  Send quadricycle route approval submissions and any questions to: Traffic.PlanReview@vancouver.ca, and we will review your route for acceptance.

  Important note A quadricycle route approval fee of $69.40 may be applied for each route.

  Important note Any changes or new, additional routes must be approved before operating on those routes.
