Development Potential Relief Program

The Development Potential Relief Program (DPRP) pilot provides tax relief for eligible Light Industry (Class 5) and Business and Other (Class 6) properties.

Supported by provincial legislation, the program aims to help independent small businesses and community partners who are paying disproportionately high taxes because of development potential.

The DPRP pilot was first implemented for the 2023 tax year. In March 2024, Council approved, in principle, the continuation of the DPRP pilot for the 2024 tax year.

Following the DPRP opt-out period and review process, Council approved the 2024 Development Potential Tax Relief By-law (190 KB) in May 2024. The By-law identifies the properties that will receive tax relief under the DPRP pilot in 2024.

2024 Declaration period has closed

If your property was eligible and you successfully submitted your declaration by the deadline, the property tax relief will be reflected on your property tax notification, which will be sent out in spring 2024.

If you were not eligible for the DPRP, you may still be eligible for the land assessment averaging program.
