Advanced Water Metering Infrastructure

AMI technology on a water meter

AMI technology on a water meter

The AMI technology is the small round black device that appears on water meter lids.

We currently use a drive-by system to collect data from water meters every 2 months. This system is reaching the end of its useful service life and requires replacement.

To improve our meter reading, we are implementing Advanced Meter Infrastructure (AMI) technology.

Switching from the current drive-by system to the AMI system will not affect your water service, utility bill, billing schedule, or how you receive your bill.

What's happeningAdvanced water meter upgrades start December 2025

We're upgrading water meters to advanced metering infrastructure (AMI). Most meters are on City property, so no action is needed for most residents.
