The SRO Upgrading Grant program provides capital funding to improve the safety, livability, and infrastructure of non-profit owned or leased Single Room Occupancy (SRO) buildings designated under the Single Room Accommodation (SRA) By-law.
The grant supports capital upgrades that enhance the quality of life for SRO residents. Eligible improvements include:
- In-room and common area upgrades: Fixtures (sinks, cooking facilities), flooring, walls, lighting
- Building-wide improvements: Windows, roofing, building envelope, accessibility upgrades
- Fire safety enhancements: Sprinkler isolation valves, fire escapes, emergency lighting
