Car-sharing
Need a car but don't want to own one? Join a car-sharing organization to gain access to hundreds of vehicles that you can rent by the minute, hour, or day. Save the expense of owning and maintaining your own vehicle, including the gas and maintenance costs.
Vehicles are conveniently located throughout Vancouver and can be reserved online, by smartphone app, or over the phone.
The following car-share operators are currently in service in Vancouver:
Car-share vehicles have dedicated parking spaces located in private parking lots and on city streets.
Our by-laws permit car-share vehicles to park in any unregulated areas without parking signage, as well as in resident parking only (RPO) and no parking except with permit (RPP) zones.
As a car-share user, you can park an actively rented car-share vehicle at a metered parking space without cost for up to 2 hours (as of July 23, 2019).
If you are operating an Evo one-way car-share vehicle, you are able to end your trip in metered parking spaces as long as there are no other “no-stopping” regulations that supersede the metered parking (as of September 12, 2019).

Car-share vehicles are allowed to park in time-limited zones but must adhere to all time limits and parking restriction signs. Some examples are shown below:
Car-share users may stop over or end their trips in time-limited zones (for example, 2-hour parking). However, it is the responsibility of the car-share operator and their members to comply with all parking restrictions that apply in that area.
