The Vanier Park boat launch floats will be repaired later this year, after suffering damage during the 2021 and 2022 storm events.
The west float suffered significant damage, while the east float incurred minor damage.
The west float and associated concrete ramp are intended for launching and retrieving small craft boats.
The east float and associated asphalt ramp are intended for launching and retrieving non-motorized human-powered vessels like kayaks and canoes.
What's happeningRepairs begin in summer 2023
The west float and west ramp are closed temporarily for float repairs this summer. We have hired a contractor to repair both the east and west floats PDF file (7.4 MB), and the work will begin in the last week of June 2023, continuing throughout the summer.
During the site work in July and August, there will be a partial beach closure between the west and east closures. Please follow the site signage and allow the staff sufficient space to work.
The float repair work will be done in phases, ensuring that at least one ramp will always be open to the public.
