Why temporary patios?

We are committed to supporting businesses impacted by COVID-19. Since June 1, 2020, we have approved over 400 temporary patios on private and City property as part of our COVID-19 response. The additional patio space created by this program has helped businesses and their customers follow the physical distancing measures outlined by the Provincial Health Officer.

Approved temporary patio locations

This program allows businesses to apply for a free permit to set up a temporary patio:

  • In an on-street parking space (in-front or beside your business)
  • On a sidewalk (in-front or beside your business)
  • On private property
