Summer Patio Program

The Summer Patio Program runs from April 1 to October 31. This program has a simplified permit process with 2 permit types depending on where the patio is located.

Summer curbside patios

Summer curbside patios may be located in the curb lane of the street either in front of or to the side of your ground-floor business.

Summer sidewalk patios

Summer sidewalk patios can be located on public sidewalks in front of or to the side of a ground-floor business, directly against the building.

If you have a valid liquor license, patios under the Summer Patio Program are eligible for liquor service if you obtain Liquor and cannabis regulation (LCRB) approval for your patio (requires a separate application to LCRB).

Annual Patio Program

The Annual Patio Program may be used year-round. Permits are required to be renewed annually and run from April 1 to March 31 every year. This is a full review process with additional requirements, and has 1 permit type.

Annual sidewalk patios

Annual sidewalk patios are located on public sidewalks in front of or to the side of a ground-floor business, directly against the building.
