With more than 6 hectares of land in Hastings Park, we have integrated a network of pedestrian and cycling trails around the park.

These paths connect to pedestrian and bicycle routes to the neighbourhood and city bike routes, making it easy to get to and around the park.

Hastings Skatepark, also called Hastings Bowl, is located at Renfrew and Pandora streets, two blocks north of Hastings Street.

The concrete skatepark has 3 winding connected bowls ranging from 1.5 to 3.5 metres (5 to 11 feet) deep, plus a separate street course with plenty of coped ledges and wall rides.

Leeside Skatepark, also called Leeside Tunnel, is located in a former transit tunnel under the Cassiar Connector at the corner of Hastings Street and Highway 1 eastbound.

Hastings Racecourse

Horse racing has been a part of Hastings Park since the 1800s. Live race days at Hastings Racecourse & Casino External website, opens in new tab take place between April and October with free entrance. Various restaurants, bars, and a gaming floor with 600 slots operate year-round.

The Pacific National Exhibition (PNE)

Playland Amusement Park is located at the Pacific National Exhibition (PNE) External website, opens in new tab. It's the host of countless shows, exhibits, sporting events, concerts, cultural activities, and the annual summer fair.

Il Giardino Italiano

This Italian-styled garden features fountains surrounded by whimsical sculptures inspired by famous Italian operas. Pear trees and plantings of lavender and Italian cypress add to the Mediterranean feel.

Here, you can:

• Dip your feet in the gushing fountains
• Gather around the large feast table for a family picnic
• Pick up a game of bocce under the grape arbour
• Bring the kids to a large children's play area adjacent to the garden

Sanctuary

The Sanctuary is a 9-acre forested area that replaced the former BC Pavilion site.

Meandering pathways with bridges and a boardwalk make this space perfect for:

• Bird watching
• Taking a seat and enjoying a calming view of the ponds
• Free nature walks hosted by the Hastings Park Conservancy External website, opens in new tab

Momiji Gardens

Momiji Gardens is located on the south side of the Garden Auditorium building, along East Hastings Street.

This Japanese-styled garden reminds us of the detention and internment of Japanese-Canadians during the Second World War. Japanese-Canadians were temporarily detained in many of the exhibition buildings in Hastings Park before being transported to various interment camps around the province.

Creekway Park

Completed in 2013, Creekway Park is located between Hastings Park and New Brighton Park, and provides a safe pathway for pedestrians and cyclists to New Brighton Park and the waterfront.

In the park, you will find a newly uncovered stream that was once buried for 60 years. The stream now captures and filters stormwater and provides a rich habitat for many types of birds, amphibians, and butterflies.

Home + Away

Home + Away is a towering public art installation located at Empire Fields in Hastings Park. Designed by internationally-celebrated artists, Lead Pencil Studio, it reflects the historic structures that the park was once famous for.

In addition to being visually striking, this ‘functional’ artwork has 16 rows of seating for up to 49 people and is intended to be sat on, climbed, and experienced. It offers the exciting experience of height and views overlooking the northwest corner of Empire Fields and makes great seating when watching events.

The Miracle Mile: Landy Bannister sculpture

The Miracle Mile is named for the one-mile race between Roger Bannister of England and John Landy of Australia during the 1954 Commonwealth Games, at what is now Empire Fields.

The bronze statue honours the first time in history that two athletes ran a mile in less than 4 minutes in the same race.
