What the video covers
This video explains racism and systemic racism, and how they impact people of Black and African-diaspora descent. It also highlights 4 priorities identified in our 2022 interim report to address anti-Black racism:
- Partnering with Black community members and businesses to reduce poverty
- Eliminating systemic racism within the city of Vancouver
- Investigating how Black people are impacted by City-led programs
- Integrating culturally relevant urban planning processes

Each February, since 2011, the mayor has issued a proclamation recognizing and celebrating Black History Month.
