Temporary delay for West End parking permit decals
If you are in the Davie-Beach, Denman West, or West End Plateau residential permit parking zones, you may experience a delay in receiving your West End parking permit decal. We are currently experiencing a temporary shortage of decals.
Your licence plate will remain active in the grace period system while you wait for your decal. You can continue to park in your permit zone without displaying a decal on your windshield.
The grace period has been extended to July 31, 2026, to allow time for decals to be mailed. If your decal has not arrived by July 31, 2026, call 3-1-1 to report it as missing.
New changes to residential parking only (RPO) regulations underway
If you live on a block with residential parking only (RPO) regulations, we'll be asking you if you prefer:
- An upgrade to resident permit parking (RPP) - a regularly patrolled fee-based permit system, OR
- Removal of existing resident parking only (RPO) - leaving the block unregulated
If a block changes to resident permit parking (RPP), a combination of permit parking and time limit (except with permit) regulations will be installed. Permit holders can park anywhere on the block at all times.

Your permit is valid if:
- You park within the zone that your residential address is in (for example: if you have a West End decal, you can't park in the Mount Pleasant zone)
- Your vehicle’s licence plate number is currently in the permit system
- Your permit is affixed to your windshield
Your permit is invalid if:
- You move, change your vehicle, or licence plate
- Your licence plate doesn't match your permit
- Your permit is not affixed to your windshield
A residential parking permit will allow you to park in your designated permit zone. It doesn't guarantee that you'll have parking in front of your property.
We typically install a combination of ‘No Parking Except with Permit’ and ‘Time limited Except with Permit ‘ signs to:
- Manage areas where street parking is in high demand
- Provide parking options for residents, visitors, and service providers
- Allow Parking Enforcement to recognize non-permitted vehicles on sight and with licence plate recognition (LPR) technology
