Residents - Temporary Permits Info

Note: Temporary Resident Parking Permits cannot be purchased in advance and are only valid at time of issuance for the specified dates. The cost of the temporary pass is $11.20 (including HST) per week.

Permit - Circumstances   Requirements

Rental vehicles or courtesy cars: $11.20 per week or no charge if temporarily replacing a car that has a decal.

  Residents may purchase temporary permits for rental or courtesy cars at $11.20 per week. We require the vehicle rental contract or courtesy car registration and 2 items showing the resident's address in the permit zone. If the rental or courtesy car is replacing a car that has a valid decal on it, there will be no charge.
Borrowing car: $11.20 per week if permit zone resident is borrowing the car of a friend who is leaving town.   We require the vehicle registration, 2 items of resident ID, and an official itinerary or travel ticket showing the vehicle owner's name and the duration of their absence.

Note: without an itinerary or travel ticket in the vehicle owner's name, a temporary permit will not be issued to residents who are borrowing a friend or family member's car.

Non-Residents - Temporary Permits Info

Note: Temporary Resident Parking Permits cannot be purchased in advance and are only valid at time of issuance for the specified dates. In certain instances, permits can be issued to vehicles not registered to a resident of the permit zone. However, the permit is issued on the resident's behalf, and the resident is responsible for the permit. The cost of the temporary pass is $11.20 (including HST) per week.

Permit - Circumstances   Requirements
Out of town visitors: $11.20 per week for Visitors from outside the Greater Vancouver area may be issued a temporary permit for the duration of their stay up to three months with a resident of a permit zone.   We require the vehicle registration of the visitor, showing the vehicle plate and a residence outside the Lower Mainland, along with two items of residential ID from their host, one of which must be recently dated. The permit is intended for a single visit and cannot be issued to cover multiple visits for a single visitor. The permit is assigned to the plate shown on the out of town insurance and is not transferable.
Housesitting: $11.20 per week if a permit zone resident is leaving town.   We require the vehicle registration of the housesitter, 2 items of residential ID showing the resident's address in the permit zone, and an official itinerary or travel ticket showing the resident's name and the duration of the resident's absence.

Homecare: Permit zone current rate if a resident regularly receives homecare services.

   Annually, we require the vehicle registration of the homecare provider, 2 items of residential ID from the permit zone resident, and a letter from a doctor indicating the need for homecare services.

Construction or other service work on a residence in a permit zone (plumbing, electrical work, painting, etc.): $5.60 per day, the temporary permit can be obtained by the resident or contractor in the event that all required documentation is provided.

  

For construction or renovations done to a home, one transferable paper permit can be issued for a period of up to three months. The resident must supply:

  1. the valid vehicle insurance from at least one of the contractors that will be working on site
  2. one piece of the resident's recently dated residential identification from within the permit zone
  3. documentation showing the work being done in the form of a building permit or work order.

The construction permits are intended for renovations on individual residential households only and are valid from 7am-8pm. These permits are not for commercial development.
